Newcomers Recruited to Key Positions at DelphiTROY, Mich., April 19 -- Delphi Automotive Systems today announced Lloyd E. Johnson, 45, has joined the automotive technology company as general auditor and Robert W. Morgan has joined Delphi's Harrison Thermal division as director of manufacturing. The announcements were made by Alan S. Dawes, chief financial officer for Delphi, and Ronald M. Pirtle, president of Delphi Thermal and vice president of Delphi, respectively. As general auditor, Johnson, a certified public accountant (CPA), will be responsible for Delphi's audit function worldwide. "Lloyd brings tremendous experience and enthusiasm to the position and to Delphi," said Dawes. "He will be a strong resource for us as we build the Delphi finance team." Johnson joins Delphi with more than 17 years of financial management, accounting and auditing experience. Previously, he was vice president of financial services for Emerson Electric Co. based in St. Louis, Mo. Prior to joining Emerson Electric Co., Johnson was director of international accounting and taxation for Sara Lee Corporation. There, he was responsible for business unit and consolidated financial reporting, financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting. Johnson received a master's of business administration degree from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. He earned a master's of accounting and a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of South Carolina. Until relocating to the Detroit area, he was a director for the Civic Ventures Investment Fund, a financing fund for minority businesses in St. Louis. A native of Clinton, S.C., Johnson and his wife have three children. In the newly created position of director of manufacturing for Delphi Thermal, Morgan takes on responsibility for Delphi Thermal's manufacturing facilities worldwide. His responsibilities specifically cover all wholly owned operations. Morgan will also work with leaders of Delphi Thermal's joint venture sites to share common lean manufacturing practices. Morgan, a 15-year veteran of automotive components and systems supplier TRW, was most recently vice president and general manager of the company's Rack & Pinion division. A native of Bristol, United Kingdom, Morgan has been based primarily in Europe during his career. He gained international acclaim for his lean manufacturing expertise; he has received endorsements from James Womack, the author of "Lean Thinking." In Europe he was on the advisory board for the Lean Enterprise Research Center at Cardiff Business School, University of Wales. More recently since moving to the U.S. he has taken a position on the board of the Lean Enterprise Institute MA. "Bob brings an impressive background in manufacturing to this assignment, and his well-demonstrated expertise in lean manufacturing will be critical as we continue to strengthen our global operations," Pirtle said. Morgan earned his certification in finance and accounting at Kingsfield College and Reed College in the United Kingdom.
