Vastera and Oracle Sign Agent Agreement
DULLES, Va.--April 19, 1999--Trade Logistics
Vastera, the leading provider of international trade logistics solutions, today announced that Vastera has signed an Oracle Agent Agreement.
Under the agreement, Oracle has rights to jointly sell and support the Vastera EMS-2000(R) Global Passport(tm) solution to its customers, thus offering a complete global supply chain solution.
"International trade is a critical component of the supply chain across vertical segments," said George Kadifa, Senior Vice President, Industrial Products Sector, Oracle. "With more than two dozen joint customers, and a vast majority in the High-Tech and Automotive space, the industrial sector of Oracle(R) Vertical Applications sponsored Vastera for this agreement."
"Oracle takes a giant step forward in extending the value of its Internet supply chain suite by adding a leading ITL (international trade logistics) system vendor to manage the thorny and complex issues of global trade," added John Fontanella, Research Director, Supply Chain Execution at AMR Research, a Boston-based industry and market analysis firm.
"The partnership is a 'can't miss' strategy for both Vastera and Oracle. Vastera gets direct access to Oracle's customer base, most of whom are companies with complex global networks and tight regulatory requirements, ideal candidates for the EMS-2000 Global Passport solution. It's also a great way to get Oracle sales people back into the installed base with new product offerings."
"Oracle's decision to stand behind Vastera as a selected vendor for international trade solidifies our strength in the (international trade logistics) industry," said Arjun Rishi, President and CEO with Vastera.
"Vastera has consistently demonstrated our commitment to Oracle by providing certified integration and support for the latest Oracle application and database releases, and offering a comprehensive solution to our mutual customers. The growing market need for a comprehensive International Trade Logistics solution, was the impetus for this agreement."
"This agreement makes sense - our integration (Oracle / Vastera) has gone very well," adds Ashok Gupta, Manager, Information Resources with Sun Microsystems. "The total solution has provided Sun with 'real-time' automation of our international trade processes while allowing us to decrease our order cycle time."
