DaimlerChrysler Global Communications Staff Continues to AccelerateAUBURN HILLS, Mich. and STUTTGART, Germany, April 16 -- DaimlerChrysler , the global automotive, transportation products and services company, announces key appointments to its communication organization. All appointments are effective immediately. Rita M. McKay is appointed to Director, Internal Communications - Auburn Hills. McKay will be responsible for coordinating all internal communications activities associated with the DaimlerChrysler North American region. Prior to this appointment, McKay was Director, Corporate Services. McKay joined Chrysler Corporation in 1987, from American Motors Corporation, and has been instrumental in molding and building public relations and communications activities on both the corporate and brand platforms. She will report directly to Christoph Walther, Senior Vice President and head of global communications for DaimlerChrysler. Terri L. Houtman is promoted to Director, Communications Strategy. Houtman, who will be based in Auburn Hills, Mich., has broad-based experience in a host of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep(R) and Plymouth communications disciplines and has been instrumental in the development of new communications strategies for DaimlerChrysler on a global level. Prior to this appointment, she was Senior Manager, Communications Strategy. Houtman also will report directly to Christoph Walther. Karlheinz L. Knoss is named Senior Manager, Automotive Business Affairs/Commercial Vehicles. In this position, Knoss will provide further focus on DaimlerChrysler's tremendous commercial vehicles division -- the industry's global leader in heavy and medium trucks and buses. Knoss joins DaimlerChrysler from General Motors (GM), where he served as head of communications for Saab Germany. He will report to Roland Klein, Vice President Corporate Communications and be based in Stuttgart. Han Tjan is appointed Senior Vice President and head of communications for Adtranz, the world's largest rail systems company. Adtranz is a 100% subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler, with sales revenues of 3,3 Mrd. Euro and 23,600 employees. Prior to his new position, Tjan served as Vice President for Communications and Public Affairs of Chrysler Asia, based in Singapore. With experience of more than 20 years in global automotive communications, marketing and public affairs, he speaks English, Indonesian, Dutch, German and French fluently. Han Tjan, who is also responsible for Public Affairs and Governmental Relations, will be based in Berlin and report directly to Rolf Eckrodt, CEO of Adtranz. This latest announcement comes as DaimlerChrysler continues to further structure its blueprint for the industry's first global communications organization leading into the 21st century.
