This year, HOPE for Kids Day will be celebrated in 93 cities nationwide. In Detroit, 1,000 volunteers will be canvassing the East Side, providing parents with information on immunizations, diabetes, lead poisoning, HIV, asthma, and registration requirements for MIChild, a health insurance program for uninsured children of Michigan's working families. In addition, Perfecting Church and Haven of Rest Missionary Baptist Church, also on the East Side, will host health fairs and will provide free immunizations, hearing and vision testing, and diabetes screening. HOPE for Kids, a program of HOPE worldwide, utilizes its significant volunteer training and management expertise to strengthen low-income and public housing communities through volunteer outreach, health education, information, child development programs and key partnerships in order that children may live healthy, productive and fulfilling lives. Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer is among the guests who will be attending tonight's rally to honor local sponsors.
