Visteon Automotive Systems Honored As National Sponsor Of 1999 HOPE for Kids Day
DEARBORN, Mich., April 16 -- Visteon Automotive Systems is
working to ensure that thousands of children across the United States face a
brighter future.
Visteon has become a 1999 national sponsor of the April 17 HOPE for Kids
Day that will be celebrated in cities nationwide. The event will kick off in
Detroit this evening with a rally to honor Visteon and other local companies
who are sponsoring this national children's effort.
Visteon's 1999 HOPE for Kids sponsorship is one of many company activities
that support innovative and enterprising initiatives dedicated to children.
"We have a responsibility and desire to give back to our communities -- to
support organizations like HOPE for Kids that provide children and their
families with the opportunities and resources to forge a brighter future,"
said Kevin Singer, Visteon Executive Director of Global Marketing
Communications & Public Affairs. "We are pleased to be part of this national
event and part of HOPE for Kids' efforts to educate families about the
importance of proper health care for children."
HOPE for Kids Day is an annual, nationwide event sponsored by HOPE for
Kids aimed at educating families about important children's health issues and
programs, and free or low-cost child health insurance. This year, HOPE for
Kids Day will be celebrated in 93 cities nationwide.
In Detroit, 1,000 volunteers will be canvassing the East Side, providing
parents with information on immunizations, diabetes, lead poisoning, HIV,
asthma, and registration requirements for MIChild, a health insurance program
for uninsured children of Michigan's working families. In addition, Perfecting
Church and Haven of Rest Missionary Baptist Church, also on the East Side,
will host health fairs and will provide free immunizations, hearing and vision
testing, and diabetes screening.
HOPE for Kids, a program of HOPE worldwide, utilizes its significant
volunteer training and management expertise to strengthen low-income and
public housing communities through volunteer outreach, health education,
information, child development programs and key partnerships in order that
children may live healthy, productive and fulfilling lives.
Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer is among the guests who will be attending
tonight's rally to honor local sponsors. The rally will take place at the
Detroit's Renaissance Center Marriott beginning at 7 p.m.
