ASHA/McLaren Engines Enhances Engineering Capability; Joe Treiber Named V.P. of Engineering

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--April 16, 1999--ASHA Corporation/McLaren Engines, Inc. . Jack McCormack, President and C.E.O. of ASHA Corporation, announced the appointment of Mr. Joseph Treiber to the position of Vice President of Engineering.
McCormack noted, "Mr. Treiber's assignment to this newly created position recognized the need to expand and more fully organize the company's engineering and design capabilities, and to better serve the growing utilization of its GERODISC(TM) technology. Mr. Treiber has overseen a better than 100% increase in ASHA engineering personnel and the new title is certainly deserving of his added responsibilities."
Now reporting to Treiber will be three additional engineers, as well as reassigned engineering staff (for a total of eight) plus newly assigned draftsmen, mechanical engineers, and support staff. The added engineering staff is a reflection of the increasing number of platform development requests by ASHA's licensees and OEM customers.
With a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Mr. Trieber added a MBA from Western International University and began his career at Honeywell Corporation where, as a principle engineer, he designed consumer products and controls for commercial avionics and the military. Later, moving to Delco as an engineering manager with seventy employees, he became the senior systems engineer with prime responsibility in light armored vehicles for the U.S. Army.
ASHA was recently named one of the eight winners of the prestigious automotive PACE Awards in recognition of the advancement in drivetrain technology marked by the GERODISC(TM) traction control system.
ASHA Corporation develops advanced technology products and automotive design and manufacturing techniques for the global automotive industry, and licenses the award winning GERODISC(TM) traction control system. Currently, ASHA has multiple worldwide license agreements in place for 4WD, 2WD, and AWD platforms.
On January 8, 1999, ASHA acquired McLaren Engines, Inc., a complete powertrain design, fabricating, and testing facility occupying over 55,000 square feet of office and laboratory space in Livonia, Michigan. McLaren Engines, Inc. operates as a subsidiary of ASHA Corporation, under the direction of Wiley McCoy, President and Chief Operating Officer. During its thirty year record of service, McLaren Engines has serviced the research, development, and testing needs of more than one hundred clients, and is an ISO-9001 registered firm.
The stock is traded on the Nasdaq SmallCap Market (Symbol:ASHA).
