Posi-Track Named One of the Top Products of 1998 by Heavy Equipment NewsASV's Posi-Track All-Purpose Crawler Also Featured in Other Leading Trade Journals GRAND RAPIDS, Minn., April 15 -- The Posi-Track MD2800 Series all-purpose crawler by All Season Vehicles, Inc. has been named by Heavy Equipment News as one of the top products of 1998. The Posi-Track is featured in the April 1999 issue of Heavy Equipment News. The honor comes on the heels of another recent award bestowed by Construction Equipment, another leading construction magazine. In its December 1998 issue, Construction Equipment named the Posi-Track MD 2800 to its list of the 100 most significant product introductions for 1998. The magazine singled out the Posi-Track in the "All Purpose Crawlers" category -- vehicles that perform the duties of "all-purpose crawlers, skid-steers, dozers, tractors or loaders." In evaluating products for its Top 100 Awards, Construction Equipment editors said, "we look for advances in technology, new product lines, significant improvements to existing productions or a production that increased competition in its field." These two honors are the latest in a spate of editorial coverage that ASV has received by leading construction and landscaping publications, according to Brad Lemke, ASV national product manager. Upon closer review, he says, the stories reveal the growing use of the Posi-Track in any number of applications. For example, in the January issue of Tree Care Industry, the Posi-Track was featured in an article highlighting the success of New Age Tree Service. The Spring Grove, Minn.-firm uses the Posi-Track to clear brush and trees from power lines. A similar tale of success is noted in the Spring 1999 issue of Landscaping & Groundskeeping Journal, says Lemke. The magazine published a story about Countryside Landscaping, Huntersville, S.C., a five-year-old firm that has grown to 32 employees and doubled in sales each year. According to the article, Tony Pope, Countryside's owner, purchased his first Posi-Track two years ago to expand the company's services year-round. Because the red clay soil in North Carolina can turn into a mucky soup during the winter months, many landscaping companies find it difficult to continue operating because traditional skid steers and steel-track crawlers sink in the mud. On the other hand, the Posi-Track, with its low ground pressure, can maneuver in those conditions, and has allowed Pope and his landscaping company to work year-round. "Countryside has purchased four Posi-Track crawlers since Pope was introduced to the machine at a construction show in Charlotte, N.C., two years ago." Lemke says. Other accounts abound in other trade publications. A feature story about the Posi-Track in the April 1999 issue of Lawn & Landscape discusses how Suburban Landscaping in Oldcastle, Ont., revolutionized the practice of laying large rolls of sod, which is typically done by hand. With a sod-rolling attachment, the Posi-Track gave Suburban Landscaping the ability to mechanically lay sod and helped the growing firm cut labor costs by two-thirds. In the April 1999 issue of Equipment Today, a story about Clarksville, Tenn., notes the important role the Posi-Track played in that city's clean-up efforts. The Posi-Track was utilized by the city and a local contractor, to clean up rubble and debris strewn over a five-block area after an early morning tornado struck the city's downtown area on Jan. 22, 1999. The company's unique Maximum Traction and Support System(TM) undercarriage (the rubber track technology that convinced Caterpillar to purchase 8.8 percent of ASV) has been noted in all of these recent stories. In fact, Equipment World recently pointed out this special track technology in a story about compact track loaders in its April 1999 issue. "This exposure will go a long way toward informing and educating current and prospective customers about the versatility of this machine," says Lemke. "I also think this coverage will help the growing number of Caterpillar dealers who are starting to market Posi-Track machines better understand the numerous applications of the Posi-Track." ASV designs, manufactures and sells all-season, track-driven vehicles and related accessories and attachments. With its patent-pending Maximum Traction and Support System(TM) undercarriage, ASV leads all rubber-tracked, all-purpose crawlers in technology and innovation. ASV's primary product, the Posi-Track, traverses nearly any terrain with minimal damage to the ground, making it effective in industries such as construction, landscaping and agriculture.
