Electrical, Electronics Excellence Drives Delphi To Earn Six GM 1998 'Supplier of the Year' Awards
    TROY, Mich., April 14 -- Electrical and electronics
excellence has led Delphi Automotive Systems to earn six 1998
"Supplier of the Year" awards from General Motors Corp. .
    GM recognized five Delphi products in its "Electrical Commodity" category,
including powertrain control modules, wiring harnesses, power and signal
distribution systems, batteries and radios.
    "Delphi is a premier supplier to GM's Electrical commodity group of
Worldwide Purchasing," said Otto Jeter, executive director, Worldwide
Purchasing, electrical.
    Delphi's sixth honored product, steering wheels, earned recognition in the
"Chemical Commodity" category for a fourth consecutive year.  The product is a
six-time GM Supplier-of-the-Year winner.
    Delphi earned the awards for exceeding specific performance standards for
quality, service, technology and price.
    "GM's Suppliers of the Year represent the 'best-of-the-best,'" said Harold
R. Kutner, vice president and group executive, Worldwide Purchasing and North
American Production Control & Logistics.  "Of GM's 30,000 suppliers, Delphi is
one of only 184 that have achieved Supplier of the Year distinction for 1998,
an honor accorded by those suppliers who have achieved world-class levels of
quality, service, technology and price in support of General Motors."

These teams reviewed supplier performance in quality, service, technology and
price during the 1998 calendar year.
