Meritor Automotive Elects James E. Marley to Board of Directors
    TROY, Mich., April 14 -- Meritor Automotive Inc.
announced that James E. Marley was today elected to its Board of Directors.
With Marley's election, Meritor's Board of Directors increases to seven
members.
    Marley, 63, served as Chairman of the Board of AMP Inc., Harrisburg, PA,
from 1993 to 1998.  He joined AMP in 1963 where he served in a variety of
engineering and executive leadership roles until his retirement in 1998.
    Marley holds a master's degree from Drexel University in Mechanical
Engineering and a bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University in
Aeronautical Engineering.
    Marley serves on the Board of Directors of Armstrong World Industries
Inc., Harsco Corporation and a number of business, educational and civic
organizations.  He is also a member of the American Society of Mechanical
Engineers, the American Management Association and the Institute of Electrical
and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE).
    Meritor, with 1998 sales of more than $3.8 billion, is a global supplier
