Eaton Corporation Names Howard M. Selland Senior Vice President and Group Executive-Aeroquip

    CLEVELAND--April 13, 1999--Eaton Corporation today named Howard M. Selland to the position of Senior Vice President and Group Executive-Aeroquip, effective immediately.
    Selland, who most recently was President of Aeroquip Corporation and an executive vice president with the parent company, Aeroquip- Vickers, Inc., will continue to be headquartered in Maumee, Ohio, and will report to Eaton President and Chief Operating Officer, Alexander M. Cutler. On April 9, Eaton announced it had completed its acquisition of Aeroquip-Vickers, Inc. for $1.7 billion.

    Selland joined Aeroquip in 1963 and held data processing and senior administrative systems positions prior to being named general manager of the company's T-J Division in 1979. Between 1981 and 1984, he became a senior staff officer of Aeroquip's parent company, and in 1984, became president of a sister subsidiary of Aeroquip, Sterling Engineered Products, Inc., which was merged into Aeroquip in 1989. At that time, he became president of the combined companies, and was elected executive vice president of Aeroquip-Vickers, Inc.
    A native of Brooklyn, New York, Selland has a BA degree in Business Administration from Spring Arbor College and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He was recently elected vice chairman of the board of trustees of the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo.
    Aeroquip is global leader in the manufacture of products that includes all pressure ranges of hose, fittings, adapters, couplings and other fluid connectors, plus precision molded and extruded plastic products for industrial, automotive and aerospace markets.
