Micropoint Inc. Expands Scope of its Agreement with Delphi Automotive Systems; Company Doubles Projected Revenues from Contract to More than $300 Million

SALT LAKE CITY--April 12, 1999--Micropoint Inc. (MICP - news) Monday announced that modifications to its Purchase and Supply Agreement with Delphi Automotive Systems have expanded the scope of its automotive supply commitments.
Under the modified agreement, estimated sales of the patented Flexpoint Bend Sensor(R) Occupant Detection System have been revised to reflect increased production demands. It is now estimated that upwards of $300 million in revenue could be generated over the life of the contract, a substantial increase over the previous estimate of $135 million.
The revenue projection is based upon General Motors' continued demand for seat sensors incorporating the Flexpoint Occupant Detection System.
"We are very excited that the scope of our agreement with Delphi Automotive Systems has expanded, pushing volumes and lead times forward," said Doug Odom, Micropoint's president and chief executive officer.
"As a result, we are moving rapidly to get our new facilities production ready. The first of several production lines is in place, and we expect the initial line to be tested and operational within a few weeks," said Odom.
The new line will be producing seat sensors for use with the Flexpoint Occupant Detection System, as part of a next generation "smart" air bag system. As a strategic partner, Delphi is playing an important role in assisting Flexpoint to prepare for volume production of automotive components.
Micropoint initially announced its supplier contract with Delphi on March 3. At that time, Micropoint estimated the value of the contract at $135 million. Because of an increase in forecasted demand from GM, Micropoint has expanded its projected production volumes and revenue projections related to the existing contract.
