Wescast Industries Inc. Is Honoured Once Again as Supplier of the Year By GM

    BRANTFORD, Ontario--April 12, 1999--For the sixth consecutive year, Wescast Industries Inc. (TSE:WCS) has been recognized by General Motors as a Supplier of the Year.
    The 1998 award winners represent 29 countries. Wescast is one of only six companies worldwide to have received this honour for six years in a row.
    "GM's Suppliers of the Year represent the 'best of the best,'" said Harold R. Kutner, vice president and group executive, Worldwide Purchasing and North American Production Control & Logistics. "Of GM's 30,000 suppliers, Wescast Industries Inc. is one of only 184 that have achieved Supplier of the Year distinction for 1998, an honor accorded to those suppliers who have achieved world-class levels of quality, service, technology and price in support of General Motors," he said.
    "We are delighted to have been recognized by General Motors as Supplier of the Year for the sixth year in a row. We are amongst elite companies in this achievement," said Ray Finnie, president and chief executive officer. "I would like to thank all our employees who worked very hard in the past years to meet and exceed the requirements that GM has set for us as a supplier. It is nice that our employees receive this recognition from GM for a job well done."
