Goodyear's Gibara to Deliver Keynote Address at AIAG's AUTO-TECH 99 LuncheonSOUTHFIELD, Mich., April 8 -- Samir G. Gibara, chairman, CEO and president of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., will deliver the keynote address at the Automotive Industry Action Group's (AIAG) keynote luncheon at Detroit's Cobo Center on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, during AIAG's AUTO-TECH 99 Conference & Exposition. In his keynote address to more than 1,200 auto industry professionals, Gibara will discuss the importance of suppliers quickly bringing new products to market in today's fast paced global economy. With more than 30 years of international business management experience, Gibara was elected chairman of the board of Goodyear in July 1996 and has been president and CEO since January 1996. Prior to this, he served as president and chief operating officer since 1995 and previously had been executive vice president with responsibility for the company's North American Tire Operations since 1994. From 1964 to 1994, he served in numerous management positions of increasing responsibility, including vice president of Goodyear Europe, president and CEO of Goodyear Canada, and president of Goodyear France. Gibara joined Goodyear in 1964 as a management trainee in France. Gibara earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Cairo University in Cairo, Egypt in 1960. Four years later, he received a master's degree in international business and finance from Harvard University. AUTO-TECH 99 is the conference of choice for top automakers and supplier executives.
