Thona Wins Third Consecutive GM 'Supplier Of The Year' Award

ANN ARBOR, Mich. & MAGOG, Quebec--(AutomotiveWire)--April 7, 1999--For the third year in a row, General Motors has named Thona a "GM Supplier of the Year."
Thona designs and manufactures a wide variety of sealing systems for many different GM models.
GM evaluated suppliers worldwide for their 1998 performance in the areas of quality, service, technology, and price, and confers their award to those who have achieved world class levels in all of these areas.
"GM's Suppliers of the Year represent the `best of the best,'" said Harold R. Kutner, vice president and group executive, Worldwide Purchasing and North American Production Control & Logistics. "Of GM's 30,000 suppliers, Thona is one of only 184 that have achieved Supplier of the Year distinction in 1998."
"The moment we heard that Thona had been named to receive the 1997 award, everyone in the company committed to make it a repeat performance in 1998," commented Sam Jyawook, president of Thona Corp., based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
"Everyone on the Thona team recognizes the total commitment to quality, efficiency, and innovation that it takes to be selected as Supplier of the Year, and we all share the talent, spirit and hope to achieve it again."
GM plans to present the award to Thona and all other North America-based winners on May 5, and specifically to Thona employees this summer.
The latter ceremony will be held at Thona's manufacturing complex in Magog, Quebec, where the company produces molded, extruded, and encapsulated glass automotive parts. The company's design, engineering, testing, sales, and program management are headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
