Cifunsa, S.A. Announces Capacity Expansion for Diesel Castings
SALTILLO, Coahuila, Mexico--(AutomotiveWire)--April 7, 1999-- Cifunsa, S.A. de C.V. announced plans today to add melt capacity in its two year old world-class foundry for diesel heads and blocks.The additional 50,000 metric tons of melt capacity, and the already finished core line for heavy duty diesel engines, will increase Cifunsa's overall melt capacity to 300,000 metric tons to be operational second quarter 2000.
The (U.S.) $25 million investment is in addition to the $220 million invested in new plant and technology since 1992.
Cifunsa is the world's largest independent Gray Iron Head and Block Foundry. Its four foundries produce 3.5 million castings annually for the automotive and diesel industries. The company employs 4,800 people and had 1998 estimated sales of $300 million.
