Minneapolis-Based Victory Motorcycles Cruising Right Along

    MINNEAPOLIS--April 6, 1999--

2,000 bikes shipped; company on schedule to meet 1999 goals

Victory Motorcycles reached another milestone in a year of successes today when it shipped its 2,000th bike and is well along on its 1999 goal of shipping 5,000 Victory V92C Cruiser Motorcycles.
Victory Motorcycles, a division of Minneapolis-based Polaris Industries Inc., publicly introduced the Victory V92C two years ago and the first bike rolled out of the company's Spirit Lake, Iowa, manufacturing facility last July. The company now boasts nearly 300 North American Victory dealers, and international expansion is in the works. Victory is the first new American-made motorcycle manufacturer to mass-distribute a bike in almost 50 years.
"We knew if we produced quality motorcycles that we had the infrastructure to successfully market and distribute the bikes without adding much cost to our company," said Tom Tiller, president and CEO of Polaris Industries Inc. "Our production facilities in Osceola, Wis. and in Spirit Lake were easily customized to manufacture motorcycles and are ready to expand to meet the tens-of-thousands of Victory bikes we anticipate producing and selling annually in the near future."
Besides meeting production goals, the past year has been a superb one for Victory. The bike was named Cycle World's "1998 Cruiser of the Year" and met the strict emissions standards of the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the toughest standards in the world. In addition, Victory had a great response at last month's Daytona Bike Week, the world's largest motorcycle gathering.
"Bike week was fantastic," added Tiller. "We had more than 100 Victory riders join us for the first Victory ride through Daytona's Main Street. We had successful demonstration rides with an overwhelming majority of riders stating they would consider purchasing a Victory or would recommend Victory to a friend and we unveiled our new mobile marketing unit - a 53-foot custom-designed trailer that will tour the country demonstrating Victory. We're thrilled about this past year, but we're even more excited for the future."
The Victory V92C is a made-in-the-U.S.A. heavyweight cruiser, featuring a unique combination of looks, performance and sound. Victory is designed with classic aviation, automotive and motorcycle styling, and looks like no other motorcycle on the market. At over 92 cubic inches (1507 cc), the engine is one of the largest V-twins available.
Victory Motorcycles is a division of Polaris Industries Inc. Polaris is the largest snowmobile manufacturer in the world, and one of the largest U.S. manufacturers of ATVs and personal watercraft. Polaris Industries Inc. trades on the New York Stock Exchange and Pacific Stock Exchange under the symbol "PII," and the company is included in the S&P SmallCap 600 stock price index.
