    PALO ALTO, Calif.--April 6, 1999--

IT Consulting, Ongoing Operations, Support, and HP-UX and NT
Hardware From HP Critical to Success of Delphi's Strategic SAP R/3
Implementation

    Hewlett-Packard Company today announced that Delphi Automotive Systems, the world's largest, most diversified automotive components and systems company, has agreed to purchase a comprehensive SAP R/3 solution worth more than $25 million over the next three years. HP will provide Delphi with SAP R/3 services and systems: HP Rapid/IT infrastructure consulting, HP 9000 Enterprise Servers, HP NetServer systems, ongoing operations of the SAP R/3 environment, and mission-critical support.
    This engagement is further evidence of HP's leadership role in delivering SAP R/3 solutions.
    Delphi Automotive Systems is a $28.5 billion manufacturer of advanced components and vehicle systems headquartered in Troy, Mich. Delphi will migrate its operating divisions to SAP R/3 to further enhance its delivery of quality components and systems to its global customers. The engagement also facilitates Year 2000 compliance. Delphi is scheduled to go live in July.
    HP will provide an entire lifecycle solution of SAP R/3 services and systems, including the following:

-- IT infrastructure, design consulting and implementation using HP
     Rapid/IT, an innovative methodology designed to hasten SAP R/3
     infrastructure development;

-- HP 9000 V-Class Enterprise Servers, K-Class servers and HP
     NetServer systems;

-- ongoing operations and management of the SAP R/3 environment
     provided by INTRIA-HP, a joint venture between the Canadian
     Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) and HP; and

-- mission-critical recovery services to maintain the computing
     environment in the event of a power outage or natural disaster.

    INTRIA-HP's proven record of managing complex mission-critical environments played an important role in meeting Delphi's SAP implementation needs. The world-class data center provides a robust infrastructure that ensures mission-critical operations and scalability to accommodate Delphi's growth over time. Formed in 1998, the INTRIA-HP joint venture is fully integrated into HP's overall services and support offerings, enabling HP to provide seamless lifecycle solutions.
    "The SAP R/3 project is a strategic initiative contributing to the success of Delphi's future," said John Jalovec, director of global programs, Delphi Automotive Systems. "This agreement establishes a strong relationship between HP and Delphi Automotive Systems. HP's expertise in SAP R/3 services and systems is an important component to the success of the project."
    "We have already met challenging and crucial deadlines on this project, which shows that HP has invested heavily in understanding Delphi's business and cultivating a true alliance with them," said Tom Ashburn, HP vice president and general manager of the Customer Service and Support Group. "Our lifecycle approach to SAP R/3 enables us to provide Delphi with a smooth transition through all the critical phases without interrupting its productivity."
