Iammarino Elected New STI President; Rodhouse Honored with Institute's Leadership Award
MENTOR, Ohio, April 5 -- The Steel Tube Institute of North
America (STI) elected new leaders and honored current president Thomas I.
Rodhouse at its recent Annual Meeting in Rancho Mirage, California.
Craig Iammarino, President of Welded Tube Company of America, was elected
to head the STI for the next two years. He will serve as the Institute's
president. R. Gordon Stewart, President of Copperweld Canada, will serve as
the STI's Vice President. Both will begin their terms on May 1, 1999.
Mr. Rodhouse was presented with the STI Leadership Award, for his
outstanding service. It is the highest recognition the Institute bestows.
The award is a three-dimensional replica of the STI's logo, which incorporates
sections of round, square and rectangular steel tubing. Mr. Rodhouse is
Chairman and CEO of J. H. Roberts Industries.
"The outstanding leadership provided by Mr. Rodhouse has helped our
organization show unparalleled growth and success," said Timothy F. Andrassy,
Executive Director of the STI. "As a result, we stand ready to enter the new
century as a vital and effective force for the promotion of the North American
steel tubing industry."
Two officers were presented with plaques honoring their service to the
STI. They were Mr. Iammarino, who served as the Institute's Vice President
and Treasurer for the past three years, and Lee G. Hooper, President of Sharon
Tube Company, the STI's Vice President since 1997.
The Steel Tube Institute was founded in 1930. It sponsors cooperative
member efforts to improve manufacturing techniques in the welded steel tubing
industry and informs customers and fabricators about the product's utility and
versatility.
