Daewoo Motor America Releases Monthly Sales Report

    COMPTON, Calif.--April 2, 1999--Sales of Daewoo automobiles continue to increase on a steady basis as Daewoo Motor America announced sales of 1400 units for the month of March. The company sold 344 Lanos sub-compact models; 365 Nubira compact models and 691 Leganza mid-size models during the 27 sales day period.
    Daewoo Motor America which began selling automobiles in the U.S. last September now has a total of 19 retail outlets; 17 company-owned retail stores in 11 states and 2 franchised dealers in two additional states. The company is continuing its aggressive sales distribution activities with the opening of 4 additional company-owned stores and 15 additional franchised dealers in April.
    By the end of the year Daewoo plans to increase the number of company-owned retail stores to nearly 60 and the number of franchised dealers, in the six states where they are required, will total 45 to 50.
    Daewoo Motor America is the U.S. automotive sales arm of Daewoo Group based in Seoul, South Korea.
