Land Rover Announces March 1999 Sales; First Quarter 1999 Best Ever for Land Rover North America

    LANHAM, Md., April 2 -- Land Rover North America, Inc., today
reported March 1999 sales of 2,456 units, which helped close the best-ever
first quarter for the company.
    "The market is very hot right now," said Charles R. Hughes, President,
Land Rover North America.  "Land Rover achieved its best first quarter ever.
Our business is in great shape, with Range Rover ahead of its 1998 record and
the all-new and award-winning Discovery Series II in very high demand."
