Subaru Announces March Sales Figures; Best March Sales Since 1988CHERRY HILL, N.J., April 1 -- Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) today announced its March sales figures. Subaru recorded a sales total of 13,635 units for the month, up 24 percent over the same period last year. Year-to-date totals of 34,561 units are up 16 percent over 1998 year-to-date totals. March 1999 marks the best March sales since 1988. The Legacy model line led sales with 6,998 units posted, a three percent increase over the same period last year. Outback sales were up over eight percent (4,565 units) versus March 1998 Outback sales (4,206 units). Forester sales increased 91 percent (5,086 units) over the same month last year (2,659 units). This marked an all-time record for Forester sales. Subaru of America, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. of Japan.
