Budget Truck Rental Raises Rates 9% Nationwide -- Rate Increase Follows Ryder TRS Announcement Last Week --
DENVER, March 30 -- Budget Rent a Car Corporation, a wholly
owned subsidiary of Budget Group, Inc. , announced today it will
raise its one-way truck rental rates by nine percent on average in all
locations and mileage ranges, effective April 6, 1999. This decision follows
the announcement by Ryder TRS, Inc. last week to raise its rates.
"We are raising rates to better match the growing costs associated with
our fleet and rental operations," stated Thomas B. Zorn, newly-appointed
president of Denver-based Budget Truck Group. "While Budget will gain an
overdue nationwide rate adjustment, our customers will continue to receive
great products and services at an exceptional value."
Budget Rent a Car Corporation is one of the world's top three car and
truck rental systems. The Budget system, which operates under the same name
worldwide, has more than 3,200 airport and local market locations in over 120
countries and territories. Budget caters to the truck rental needs of both
commercial and individual renters at more than 600 locations throughout the
U.S. with an average fleet of 17,000 trucks and vans, ranging from cargo vans
to 24-foot medium-duty trucks.
