Mayflower Places Major Order for Syspro IMPACT Software
COSTA MESA, Calif., March 29 -- The Syspro Group has
announced the signing of a major accord with Mayflower Corporation, a global
automotive manufacturing group with plants in the U.S., U.K. and Far East.
Under terms of the pact, Syspro will supply its IMPACT Encore(TM) ERP software
to United-Kingdom-based units of Mayflower involved in the production of buses
and coaches. The contract, valued at $1.2 million, includes a factory
software system from Manchester, England-based Information Engineering Group
(IEG), who orchestrated the deal.
The Mayflower units include Walter Alexander, the UK's largest bus body
builder and Duple (Metsec), a producer of bus body kits with the potential to
extend the system to the Dennis Group, a manufacturer of trucks and bus
chassis. The units will use IMPACT Encore as the core business control
software for all phases of their bus and coach manufacturing operations.
The software will be instrumental in streamlining processes and will also
create a common database to enhance procurement, analysis and reporting
functions. Additionally, IMPACT Encore will link to IEG's factory software to
coordinate shop floor activities with corporate planning and reporting
systems.
The order was won against stiff competition and follows the successful
implementation of IMPACT at the Walter Alexander division, the United
Kingdom's largest bus body builder. Metrotrans, a U.S.-based subsidiary of
Mayflower and a maker of shuttle and tour buses, is also a current user of
IMPACT Encore.
In announcing the pact., Senior VP of Marketing, Joey Benadretti, Syspro
USA, noted, "This order represents another significant milestone and
demonstrates a tremendous vote of confidence by Mayflower in the performance
of IMPACT Encore."
According to Mayflower Group IT Manager, Ray Ellis, "IMPACT Encore was
chosen as the preferred solution because it offers us the best fit in terms of
flexibility, cost effectiveness and system performance."
Mayflower's manufacturing activities span the production of metal
stampings and pressings up to complete body shells for cars, buses, coaches
and specialist vehicles. On the car side, it makes the MGF body-in-white for
Rover in the UK and around 50 per cent of the panels used on the US-built
Mercedes 'M' class sports utility vehicle. Mayflower companies also include:
Dennis Specialist Vehicles, a company that produces fire tenders and refuse
trucks, plus chassis for bus and coach operators; Walter Alexander, which has
a one-third-of the bus production market share in the UK; and Duple (Metsec),
a producer of bus body kits for export.
Syspro's IMPACT software is a fully integrated, modular-based ERP system

Windows NT(R) and Unix(R). In addition, it features ODBC drivers and data

devices such as bar code readers, cash registers and shop floor data
collection devices. IMPACT Encore offers integrated graphics and on-line
multi-media technology. The software is continually improved with the latest
industry developments and market demands through major releases and the
introduction of new modules.
