Meritor Builds Stronger Heavy-Duty Aftermarket PresenceIntegration of Sales Forces Doubles Meritor's Field Force in the Heavy-Duty Aftermarket to Serve Customers Better ... LOUISVILLE, Ky., March 24 -- Meritor Automotive Inc. is taking aggressive steps to expand its aftermarket presence. One such step, announced today at the 1999 Mid-America Trucking Show, is the integration of the Meritor and Euclid Industries aftermarket sales forces to create one of the largest, best trained and most experienced group of sales representatives devoted solely to the heavy-duty aftermarket. "A key benefit of Meritor's aftermarket sales force integration is that it creates smaller territories for each sales representative, in addition to allowing us to dedicate focused efforts on select customer groups," said Thomas A. Gosnell, vice president and general manager of Meritor's Worldwide Aftermarket. "This will allow for greater customer intimacy. Smaller territories mean stronger relationships with customers to better support their needs." Meritor's newly created sales force will market products under the Meritor and Euclid brands. The combined product portfolio, including products from the LucasVarity Heavy Vehicle Braking Systems acquisition, is now the most extensive in the industry from a single supplier. Meritor's product portfolio now includes: Undercarriage products: Drivetrain products: Braking components Driveline components - air and hydraulic brake Clutches Friction materials Transmissions Suspension components Drive axles Wheel end components Remanufactured clutches, (hubs/drums/rotors) transmissions and axles Bearings and seals ABS components Other products: Remanufactured starters and alternators Automatic tire inflation systems Truck heating and air conditioning components Meritor also supports its extensive product line and distribution network with the industry's most advanced electronic catalog system, the Meritor Xpressway(TM) electronic parts catalog. "Our reorganized aftermarket sales force can now leverage two of the strongest brands in the aftermarket, Meritor and Euclid, as well as the entire portfolio of LucasVarity Heavy Vehicle Braking Systems products," added Gosnell. "This expanded aftermarket position will truly benefit our customers. From value-added services and the large dedicated sales force, to the broadest product lineup, our goal is to be an indispensable part of our customers' prosperity." In addition to North America, the Meritor aftermarket parts and service distribution network includes operations in Europe, South America, Australia and South Africa.
