Cascade Corporation Announces Promotion of Richard S. Anderson, Executive Realignment

    PORTLAND, Ore.--March 24, 1999--Robert C. Warren, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of Cascade Corporation announced today that Richard S. Anderson has been named Senior Vice President -- International and will be responsible for the company's European and Asian operations except for Cascade -- Australia.
    Anderson was previously Vice President -- Corporate Development.
    Warren noted that this move emphasizes the importance of the Company's international operations and is part of a continuing process of fine tuning Cascade's executive management structure.
    "Giving Andy Anderson responsibility for Europe, Japan, Korea and China is the next logical step in our effort to capture global market share," Warren said. "These operations will get greater day-to-day visibility with the Executive Team and we will be better able to support the efforts of the subsidiary managers."
    Charlie Mitchelson, Managing Director of Cascade -- Europe, has been named a Vice President of the company. "Charlie Mitchelson has made a real difference since he became responsible for our consolidated European operations last summer," Warren said. "This promotion emphasizes that he is an integral member of our Executive Team."
