AK Steel Names Brenda S. Harmon Corporate Secretary

    MIDDLETOWN, Ohio, March 24 -- AK Steel said
Brenda S. Harmon, 47, vice president, human resources has been named corporate
secretary.  Mrs. Harmon continues to be responsible for human resources,
benefits, and internal communications in addition to her new responsibilities
as corporate secretary.
    Mrs. Harmon has been with AK Steel and its predecessor companies since
1981 when she joined Armco as assistant personnel representative.  She has
progressed through a number of human resource and benefits management
positions.  She was named general manager, human resources in 1996, and vice
president, human resources in 1998.  Mrs. Harmon holds a bachelor's degree in
business administration from the University of Cincinnati.
    AK Steel produces flat-rolled steel for automotive, appliance,
construction and other markets.  The company employs about 5,800 people in
plants and offices in Middletown, Ashland, Kentucky and Rockport, Indiana.
