American Tire Corporation Announces Appointment of New Chief Executive Officer

    BOULDER CITY, Nev., March 23 -- The Board of Directors of
American Tire Corporation (OTC BULLETIN BOARD: ATYR) is pleased to announce
the unanimous appointment of Mr. John R. Hoffman as Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. Hoffman comes to American Tire Corporation with nearly 30 years experience
in worldwide marketing and operations for the Baker Hughes, Inc.  Mr. Hoffman
graduated in 1971 from the Thunderbird Graduate School with a MA degree in
International Management.
    He most recently managed the Baker Hughes Process Equipment Division North
American operations in Salt Lake City, Utah.  During his career, Mr. Hoffman
managed sales, marketing and production operations for Baker Hughes companies
in the U.S., Clute, Dubai (UAE), Singapore and Argentina, during which he
directed increases of over 50% profitability.
    Mr. Hoffman indicates that he will be focusing his efforts on the market
introduction of American Tires new AQR (Air Quality Ride) "Flat-Free" bicycle
tire, along with new technologies being developed for the small motorized
vehicle and Lawn and Garden tire markets.
    Richard A. Steinke, Chairman, stated that with the worldwide appeal for
the "Flat-Free Tire", Mr. Hoffman's experiences in National and International
markets will be very beneficial.  His proven record of streamlining
operations, systems and marketing products is a must for American Tire
Corporation.
    The marketing will commence within two months and will start within the
