Unique Mobility, Inc. Announces New Customer Order of $1.1 Million at Its Franklin Manufacturing Unit
GOLDEN, CO, March 23 -- Unique Mobility, Inc. (Amex: UQM)
announced today that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Franklin Manufacturing
Company, has received orders of $1.1 million from the North American unit of
an international maker of elevators and other people moving products.
The order encompasses both wire harnesses and printed circuit board
assemblies used in the customer's newly introduced hydraulic control system.
The hydraulic control system serves as the "brain" of an elevator controlling
all functions of its operations from the opening of doors to start and stop
positioning.
"The addition of this important customer is a significant example of our
strategy to form strategic relationships with leading companies who seek
value-added production engineering support in addition to high quality, low
cost manufacturing capability" said Michael G. Franklin, President of Franklin
Manufacturing. "Our selection as a strategic supplier by this customer
represents their consolidation of purchasing activities from numerous vendors
to Franklin, which we believe, will greatly enhance our ability to provide
them with integrated solutions".
"Our Franklin unit continues to expand its capability to meet customer
needs and, as a result, order growth continues to expand at a brisk pace"
said William G. Rankin, Unique's President and Chief Operating Officer. "With
the acceptance of this order, Franklin's booked orders for the fiscal year
beginning April 1, 1999, have topped $13.2 million versus $9.8 million at this
time last year, and we expect additional orders throughout the upcoming year".
