ASHEVILLE, N.C.--(AutomotiveWire)--March 22, 1999--The Schwitzer facility in Asheville, North Carolina, a part of Borg-Warner Automotive Turbo Systems, has been named "Supplier of the Year" by John Deere Engine Works. This award recognizes the facility's commitment to quality in supplying torsional vibration dampers to John Deere."The Supplier of the Year award is part of our Achieving Excellence program," explained Ted Breidenbach, manager of John Deere Engine Works. "Each year our standards become more stringent, and Schwitzer has performed at the partner level for several years. In 1998, they went beyond the partner level by demonstrating exceptional performance in providing quality products and working closely with us to meet our mutual goals."
The Achieving Excellence program rates John Deere suppliers according to quality, delivery, technical support, and cost management, as well as "wavelength", a measurement of the supplier's initiative, attitude, responsiveness, attention to detail and communication.
"The Supplier of the Year award is a great honor for us," says Thomas Flaherty, vice president and general manager of the Schwitzer facility. "Our torsional vibration dampers have been part of John Deere engines for years, and we have worked hard to maintain a strong working relationship with them."
