Michael S. Kelly Named Director of Finance And Chief Accounting Officer at SPX Corporation

    MUSKEGON, Mich., March 19 -- SPX Corporation
today announced that it has named Michael S. Kelly to the newly created
position of Director of Finance and Chief Accounting Officer.  Mr. Kelly joins
SPX from Arthur Andersen LLP in Chicago, Illinois.
    At Arthur Andersen, Mr. Kelly was the Audit and Financial Consulting
Partner for SPX Corporation and other clients.  He began his career at Arthur
Andersen in 1984 and was promoted to partner in 1997.
    Mr. Kelly holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Northern
Illinois University and he is a Certified Public Accountant.
    Commenting on the announcement, Patrick J. O'Leary, Vice President
Finance, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer said, "Mike has an exceptional
