Bundy Announces Major Detroit Area Investment ProgramWARREN, Mich., March 17 -- The Bundy Group, a leading supplier of fluid carrying systems to the automotive industry, is investing more than $1.5 million to install a new multi-layer extrusion line at Bundy North America's Warren (MI) manufacturing plant. The investment will serve the automotive industry's increasing need for low permeation hose for fuel and vapor lines, according to Jim Davis, president of Bundy North America. The company's North American headquarters are located in Warren. The new production line will use multi-layer technology developed by Bundy Technoflow in Germany and is capable of extruding up to five individual layers of four different types of plastic raw material. The line will be capable of producing up to 45 million feet of multi-layer hosing per year. The new line will be capable of producing conductive and non-conductive ETFE hosing -- hosing with a form of barrier layer construction -- to fully meet OEM production requirements. The line initially will support production requirements for low-permeation hosing for Volkswagen's A4 and Opel's Corsa in Mexico. "As a global player, Bundy offers distinct advantages to its customers," Mr. Davis said. "This investment in multi-layer technology demonstrates our ability to share and deploy technology and best practices throughout the company for the benefit of our customers globally. Our investment is not stopping here and we look forward to continued growth and expansion throughout 1999."
