Toyota Announces Best-Ever Certified Used Vehicle Sales
TORRANCE, Calif., March 17 -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS),
U.S.A., Inc., reported today the best-ever month in Toyota Certified Used
Vehicle sales history. February sales of Toyota Certified Used Vehicles
totaled 8,656, an increase of 26.8 percent compared to the same period a year
ago, and 118 units more than the previous best-ever record set in May 1998.
"Following-up best-ever January sales with the best sales month in Toyota
Certified Used Vehicle history is a great way to start off the year," said
Guillermo Hysaw, TMS corporate manager, used vehicle operations department.
"We had an all-time best increase in dealer participation which contributed to
the unprecedented record sales. This sales momentum we've generated at the
beginning of the year is certain to carry us through to a successful '99."
The Toyota Used Vehicle program, established in 1996, provides the best
pre-owned warranty in the industry. The warranty, from date of first use,
includes six-year, 100,000-mile powertrain coverage, as well as an optional
comprehensive 100,000-mile vehicle service agreement. And, 24-hour roadside
assistance also is provided free of charge for one year.
All 1995-1999 Toyota models with less than 55,000 miles are eligible for
the program. Prior to sale, each vehicle receives a rigorous 128-point
inspection of all mechanical and safety functions, as well as overall
appearance considerations.
