Oxford Automotive, Inc. Appoints President of its New French DivisionTROY, Mich., March 15 -- Oxford Automotive, Inc., a leading Tier 1 automotive supplier, has appointed Jean-Francois Constant to president of Oxford Automotive, Inc. France. The announcement was made today by Steven Abelman, president and chief executive officer of Oxford Automotive, Inc. "France is established as the second largest manufacturer of automobiles in Europe. With the acquisition of Cofimeta, Oxford Automotive has established the platform on which to grow in Europe," stated Abelman. "We are fortunate to have such an experienced individual as Jean-Francois to help us tackle the challenges of growing in France and Europe." Most recently, Constant served as director general of the Cofimeta Group, which was acquired by Oxford Automotive, Inc. last month. In his new position, Constant will manage the day-to-day operations of Oxford Automotive's five French facilities that employ approximately 1,600 in the cities of Douai, St. Florent and Orbec. Before joining Cofimeta, Constant was the general manager of Valeo's Lighting Division, and general manager of the Thermal Division prior to that position. Constant spent most of his career, a total of fifteen years, with the Bendix Corporation and AlliedSignal where he held many management positions such as European purchasing manager and plant manager. "We are committed to expanding in Europe," Abelman added. "Oxford Automotive will construct a Technical Center in Paris so that customers such as Renault, Peugeot, Citroen (PSA) and others will continue to receive advanced engineering, design, program management and other services that are required. Jean-Francois will lead the development of this new Technical Center that will be an integral part of Oxford Automotive's global design and engineering capabilities."
