                  Smalley to Lead Diversified Business Group

    DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., March 15 -- Budget Group, Inc.
, parent company of Budget Rent a Car Corporation and Ryder TRS,
Inc., announced the appointment of Tom Zorn, 36, as president of its
Denver-based Budget Truck Group.  In this new position, Zorn will direct the
integration of Budget Truck Rental and Ryder TRS, the nation's second largest
consumer truck rental company.
    Zorn worked for Budget from 1996 through 1998 as vice president, Truck
Operations.  Under his leadership, Budget Truck Rental produced record growth
in revenue and earnings.  Since April of 1998, Zorn has been a senior vice
president, Strategic Planning, with Security Capital Group, an investment
management and venture capital firm.
    "Our goal is to create a profitable and formidable truck rental division
by fully integrating Ryder TRS and Budget Truck Rental," stated Sandy Miller,
chairman and CEO, Budget Group.  "We have already made significant progress
toward this goal in a number of areas.  We're pleased to have Tom leading this
effort."
    Randall Smalley, previously president, Ryder TRS, has been appointed to
president, Diversified Business Group, in charge of overseeing Cruise America,
North America's largest recreational vehicle rental and sales company, and
VPSI, the U.S. leader in commuter van pooling services. Based on his
successful track record, he will also serve as chief negotiator for Budget
Group with manufacturers for all truck fleet acquisition and disposal
agreements.
