its primary server platform to handle its mission-critical tasks related to
its national online car-buying service, BuyPower. Running exclusively on Sun

ever deployed.
Leveraging Sun's high-performance server and software platforms, the
system runs on the Sun Enterprise 4000 server, Sun Enterprise 450, the Sun
Enterprise 3500 server, and the Solaris Operating Environment(TM) software.
The system also uses the Sun Enterprise Cluster 2.1 software to manage
database transactions and the Sun StorEdge(TM) A5000 storage system.
"There is growing need in the marketplace for online services," said Mark
Bugeaud, Manager of Web Infrastructure Deployment, General Motors Corporation.
"GM wanted to lead the way in making two things easier: finding the car you
want, and buying it. By leveraging Sun's best-of-class server and software
platforms, we are able to launch our most comprehensive Web site ever."
GM BuyPower is the no-hassle, no-haggle way to shop for and ultimately
