Raleigh/Durham-Area Toyota Sales Climb In FebruaryMIAMI, March 11 -- Toyota's three Raleigh/Durham-area dealers today reported a 17-percent gain in February retail car sales and a 10-percent advance in February retail truck sales over the year-ago month. Raleigh/Durham-area dealers include Fred Anderson Toyota, Leith Toyota and Toyota of Durham. In the five-state region served by Southeast Toyota Distributors, Inc., February retail sales were the best ever in the company's 30-year history. The former February record, set last year, was surpassed by 14 percent. Southeast-area sales leaders include the California-built, two-wheel-drive Tacoma pickup, up 34 percent; the North American-built Corolla, up 30 percent; and two Kentucky-built vehicles: Sienna, up 29 percent and Camry, up seven percent. "Toyota's competitive product lineup, combined with a strong U.S. economy, have brought our dealers' vehicle sales to the highest levels ever for February," said Southeast Toyota General Manager John Williams. "This new record proves that Southeast Toyota dealers are answering the needs of today's value-conscious consumers, who are seeking not only high quality and resale values, but also outstanding customer service."
