Automobile Magazine to Unveil its 1999 Readers Choice Awards at This Year's New York International Auto Show
NEW YORK, March 10 -- Automobile Magazine, a PRIMEDIA
publication, will reveal this year's Automobile Magazine Reader's Choice
All-Stars Awards at a press reception on Thursday, April 1, 1999 at the New
York International Automobile Show in Manhattan's Jacob K. Javits Convention
Center.
The winning vehicles were chosen by more than 5,000 Automobile Magazine
readers from thirteen categories. Readers were asked to make their
best-in-class selections from 201 models, by filling out and returning a poll
that ran in the January 1999 issue.
"Our readers represent a broad cross-section of the car buying public,"
said Automobile Magazine founder and editor David E. Davis, Jr. "We know that
our readers are knowledgeable enthusiasts who, often, but don't always agree
with our picks. That's what makes this award so important and stimulating.
The findings are eagerly awaited by the automotive manufacturers."
Automobile Magazine, a contemporary automotive enthusiast magazine, is a
PRIMEDIA consumer publication. Other PRIMEDIA titles include Seventeen, New
York, Modern Bride and Chicago Magazine.
The 1999 New York International Auto Show -- North America's last major
auto show of the century -- will be an impressive collection of cutting-edge
design and remarkable innovation. Four floors of exhibitors are expected to
feature new automotive products, including more than 35 vehicle manufacturers.
Nearly 1,000 cars and trucks will be on display, filling more than
810,000 square feet of exhibit space. In addition, the 1999 NYIAS expects a
record-breaking number of World, National, and Regional vehicle debuts.
    1999 NYIAS Media Days are March 30, 31, and April 1. Dealer/Industry
Preview Day is April 2. The Show opens to the public on Saturday, April 3 and
runs through Sunday, April 11.
