Roupen Puzantian Hired as Director of Licensing
CHICAGO, March 9 -- Navigation Technologies Corporation, the
premier developer of map databases used by in-vehicle navigation systems and
consumer Internet services, today announced the appointment of Roupen
Puzantian as Director of Licensing. Puzantian will report to Navigation
Technologies' Vice President of Consumer Marketing, Andrew Donchak.
"The NAVTECH database, already the most accurate and data-rich
route-guidance tool for vehicle navigation, is being further developed into a
very unique and extensive source of travel and entertainment information that
will empower consumers with a broader range of choice," said Donchak.
"Roupen's appointment represents a major commitment by Navigation Technologies
to expand our product offering by entering into partnerships with the most
recognized brands of travel and entertainment information for consumers."
As Director of Licensing, Puzantian is charged with managing Third Party
Data licensing agreements for Navigation Technologies worldwide, including
global responsibility for securing information products designed to enhance
the NAVTECH database and provide consumers with more robust travel and
entertainment information resources while on the road.
According to Puzantian, Navigation Technologies anticipates that by the
mid-year 2000, drivers will be able to access the NAVTECH database for a broad
range of information, including turn-by-turn driving directions, detailed
background on points of interest, such as hotel amenity information,
restaurant reviews, various payment methods accepted, and historical
highlights.
Roupen Puzantian joins Navigation Technologies from Viacom Inc. where he
spent the past nine years -- most recently as Executive Director,
International Licensing. In his previous position, Puzantian oversaw all
licensing for Paramount Pictures properties outside the U.S. He started at
Paramount in 1990 as a financial analyst in the Strategic Planning Department
for the motion picture group.
