Delco Remy International's Tractech, Inc., Signs New Ford BusinessWARREN, Mich., March 4 -- A Delco Remy International, Inc., subsidiary, Tractech, Inc., has been selected by Ford to provide the Detroit Truetrac(TM) premium, controlled-traction differential as an option for Ford's F-450 and F-550 series Super Duty chassis cab trucks which are equipped with Dana models 80 and S-135 axles, respectively. The contract was approved after extensive competitive testing by Ford and Tractech. Tractech's Detroit Truetrac differentials operate much like conventional open differentials with the added capability to transfer drive torque to the wheel with the best traction when in marginal traction conditions. The design consists of pairs of helical gears arranged on parallel axis, which provides smooth, automatic balanced torque under normal driving conditions. However, if one wheel loses traction, gear forces automatically resist wheel spin, thereby maximizing the vehicle's traction capability. Advantages include high strength gears, full time automatic operation, ABS compatible, and use of standard lube. The Detroit Truetrac is available for a wide range of axle models. Tractech has been manufacturing and supplying traction control systems to OEM's worldwide for over 60 years for a variety of on/off highway applications including light, medium and heavy trucks, construction, forestry, agricultural, military, racing and specialty vehicles. Delco Remy International designs, manufactures, remanufactures and distributes electrical, powertrain/drivetrain and related components for automobiles and light trucks, medium and heavy-duty truck and other heavy-duty off-road vehicles. The company's products include starter motors, alternators, engines, fuel systems and traction control systems. Delco Remy International serves the aftermarket and original equipment manufacturer markets, principally in North America, as well as in Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific.
