Best-Ever February Sales Reported by Toyota's Chicago Region
CHICAGO, March 4 -- Toyota's Chicago Region posted record car
sales in February of 5,223, a 16 percent increase over February 1998 when
sales totaled 4,524.
"The sales momentum for the Chicago Region has carried over into 1999,"
said Dave Camden, general manager of the Chicago Region. "Our Camry and
Corolla models had sales increases of 11 percent and 14 percent,
respectively."
The Georgetown, Kentucky-built Sienna minivan showed a 54 percent increase
over last February. Toyota's Tacoma trucks had an increase of 11 percent and
its Toyota Land Cruiser posted its 11th best sales month in the Region's
history, selling six times as many vehicles as it did last February.
"Our dealers are confident their strong sales numbers will continue due to
strong consumer confidence and stable interest rates," Camden said. "With the
record turn-out at the Chicago Auto Show, they are expecting increased traffic
at their dealerships in the upcoming Spring months."
The Toyota Chicago Region includes 114 dealers in Illinois, Indiana,
Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
