Budget Group Agrees in Principle to Form Strategic Alliance with Storage USA, Inc.
    DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., March 4 -- Budget Group, Inc.
, which owns Budget Rent a Car Corporation and Ryder TRS, Inc.,
announced today that it reached an agreement in principle to create a
strategic alliance with Storage USA, Inc. and Storage USA
Franchise Corp., an affiliate of Storage USA.  Storage USA is the nation's
second-largest self-storage company and operates 485 self-storage facilities
in 31 states and the District of Columbia.
    Under the proposed alliance, Storage USA and Budget Group will form an
alliance to:

      -- brand selected Storage USA facilities as "Budget Storage USA" and
         market the new Budget Storage USA franchise to other independent
         self-storage operators;
      -- grant Storage USA the right to offer Budget and Ryder truck rentals
         at its facilities across the country; and
      -- share truck rental and self-storage leads received from the
         companies' toll-free numbers (Budget, 1-800-4A-TRUCK; Ryder,
         1-800-GO-RYDER; Storage USA, 1-800-STOR-USA).

    Budget Group Chairman and CEO Sandy Miller said, "This strategic alliance
will allow us to strengthen our presence in the local market by offering self-
moving and other Budget Group companies' products and services at Storage USA
and to grow our local market distribution through the expansion of the new
Budget Storage USA franchise system."
    Both Miller and Dean Jernigan, chairman and CEO of Storage USA, recognize
the high percentage of truck-rental customers who need self-storage and the
high percentage of self-storage customers who need truck rental.  Miller
added,  "Our objective is to become the largest self-move, self-storage entity
in the marketplace.  This alliance expands on our strategy at Budget Group to
capitalize on the synergies between our Budget and Ryder truck rental
businesses and related industries like self-storage to reach more customers
more efficiently."
    Budget Group, Inc. is a global network of vehicle rental and sales
companies operating in three principal segments: Car Rental, Truck Rental and
