Petersen Names Tom Moloney President and Chief Operating Officer - John Baillie Named Chief Financial Officer -NEW YORK, March 3 -- James D. Dunning, Jr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of EMAP Petersen, Inc., the largest special interest magazine publisher in the U.S. with more than 154 publications, announced today the appointment of Tom Moloney as the new President and Chief Operating Officer. Moloney, who will be based in New York, will take over from Dunning the position of President and lead the Petersen team along with Dunning who will retain the Chairman and CEO titles. Moloney currently serves as Chief Executive of EMAP's Consumer Magazines in the UK and serves on EMAP plc's board of directors. Under his leadership, the UK Consumer Division experienced exceptional growth with profits doubling since Moloney's appointment in 1995. In addition, John Baillie has been appointed EMAP Petersen's new Chief Financial Officer and will be based in Los Angeles. Richard Willis, Executive Vice President and CFO, will be leaving the company to become a Vice President at Baylor University. Both appointments are effective April 1, 1999. Baillie, along with each of Petersen's seven publishing groups, which include Automotive, Outdoor, Sports, Motorcycle, Action Sports, Teen and Technology, as well as corporate support departments, will report directly to Moloney. Moloney will report to Dunning. Dunning commented, "Tom brings to Petersen a great deal of publishing experience from his success in the UK. In his new role as President and COO he will run the day to day operations of Petersen and manage our core executive team. Tom Moloney, 39, comes to the U.S. after serving for five years as Chief Executive of EMAP's Consumer Magazines. In October 1998 he was appointed head of EMAP's UK consumer operations, which includes magazine, television, radio and internet properties. He joined EMAP in 1981 initially working in business-to-business publications. In 1985 he moved to EMAP Metro which became publishers of brands such as Q, Empire, FHM and Kerrang. In 1989 he was promoted to Group Managing Director of EMAP Metro/Elan publishing in addition Elle, New Woman, J17, More, Mother & Baby and Top Sante. He was appointed to the Board of Directors of EMAP plc, in 1995. John Baillie, 40, currently Director of Finance and Treasury at EMAP plc in the UK, has been named EMAP Petersen's new Chief Financial Officer. Baillie has been with EMAP plc since 1995. Prior to EMAP he occupied a number of senior positions in the U.K. retail sector including Finance Director for Salisbury's Ltd., a subsidiary of Signet Group plc, Director of Planning and Analysis with Signet Group plc and head of Group Planning with Burton Group plc.
