Mitsubishi Motors' February Sales Total 16,558; Montero Sport and Mirage Are Company's Top SellersCYPRESS, Calif., March 2 -- Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc. (MMSA) sold 16,558 vehicles in February, supporting a 7 percent overall sales increase for the year. Mitsubishi Motors' popular Montero Sport mid-size sport utility vehicle registered 3,851 units sold -- an increase of 52 percent -- and the Mirage compact totaled 4,500 units to become the company's top sellers in February. Both were recognized last week by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE), with the Montero Sport* receiving the best "green score" in its class, and the Mirage** being named as one of the twelve "greenest" cars in the U.S. The Galant mid-size sedan also continued its sales momentum in February with a 10 percent increase over prior year. "MMSA's overall sales increase and the recent announcement of our first profit in several years indicates Mitsubishi Motors' turnaround plan for this market is working," said Pierre Gagnon, executive vice president and chief operating officer for MMSA.
