Nissan Reports February Sales; Altima Sales Up 30.8 Percent
CARSON, Calif., March 2 -- The Nissan Division of Nissan
North America, Inc. (NNA), reported total sales of 42,538 units in the month
of February, an increase of 14.7 percent versus the previous month.
Continuing its January lead, Nissan's Altima had sales of 14,255 units in
February, an increase of 30.8 percent over last month and 9.3 percent versus
last year.
Rounding out the top three models with the highest percentage increases
for February were the Nissan Maxima and Nissan Quest. The Nissan Maxima
reported sales of 8,804 units, up 27.9 percent over last month. The Nissan
Quest, posted sales of 3,542 units, a 70.8 percent increase versus last year
and a 9.0 percent increase over last month.
The Nissan Sentra reported sales of 4,302 units. The Altra EV had sales
of 11 units in February.
Total truck sales for February were 14,726 units, a 4.3 percent increase
in sales versus last month. The Nissan Pathfinder had sales of 5,726 units,
up 4.5 percent over last month. The Frontier pickup recorded sales of
5,458 units.
"While Nissan's February sales were up only 1.2 percent versus the
previous year, we did have a 10.8 percent increase in retail sales while
maintaining our discipline of not buying the market through incentives,
captive finance leases or increased fleet sales," said Michael Seergy, Vice
President and General Manager Nissan Division.
Sales of Nissan's North American-produced vehicles for February totaled
27,904 units, which represents 65.6 percent of all Nissan vehicles sold in the
United States.
Total NNA sales for February, including Nissan and Infiniti Divisions,
were 48,054 units, an increase of 17.2 percent over last month and a
4.1 percent increase versus last year.
Nissan North America, Inc., which includes the Infiniti luxury Division,
markets and distributes vehicles in the United States to more than
1,200 dealers.
