Lexus Posts Best-Ever February Sales; RX 300 Success ContinuesTORRANCE, Calif., March 2 -- Lexus' sales momentum continued with best-ever February sales of 14,113, a 45 percent increase over the same period last year. For the first two months of the 1999, sales are up 46.2 percent. "We're never quite sure what to expect when a new year begins," said Bryan Bergsteinsson, Lexus group vice president and general manager. "But sales for Lexus remain strong in both the sedan and sport utility vehicle (SUV) segments as consumers search for the best in luxury, quality and service. Our days supply of 16 continues to be one of the lowest in the industry." The RX 300 mid-size luxury SUV continued to be the sales volume leader with 5,245 units sold, second only to record December sales of 5,667. The LX 470 premium luxury SUV had a best-ever February with sales of 1,229, an 891.1 percent increase over last year. The GS 300 high-performance sports sedan had a strong month with sales of 1,820, a 22.9 percent improvement over last February, while the GS 400 posted sales of 646. The ES 300 near luxury sedan reported sales of 3,766, and the LS 400 premium luxury sedan ended the month with 1,224 in sales. The SC 300 and SC 400 luxury sport coupes recorded sales of 183.
