Fujitsu's 32-Bit Triple Bus Microcontrollers

2 March 1999

Fujitsu's 32-Bit Triple Can Bus Microcontrollers Target Next Generation Automotive Systems
MAIDENHEAD, England, March 2 -- Fujitsu Microelectronics has
launched a new highly integrated CAN bus microcontroller family bringing a
hitherto unprecedented level of performance to CAN based automotive and
industrial control systems.
Designed at Fujitsu's European Microcontroller Design Centre in Frankfurt,
Germany, the MB91360 Series is based on a modular 'building block' concept and
employs as its nucleus Fujitsu's powerful FR 32-bit RISC microprocessor core
and CAN bus macro. Triple FULL-CAN bus interfaces are combined with on-board
single voltage Flash or ROM memory. A dedicated team at the Design Centre now
specialises in this product range and provides in-depth support to customers
throughout Europe.
The MB91360 Series will form the foundation for a host of next-generation
devices specifically tailored to the needs of tomorrow's CAN based embedded
automotive and industrial environments.
The first device in the family, the MB91F361, is fabricated in 0.35 micron
technology and offers a CPU which clocks at 64MHz internally, together with
512kB Flash memory, 1kB instruction cache and 16kB RAM. Integrating on-chip
stepper motor controllers, real-time watch timer, sound generator, high
current LED drivers and PPG's for light dimmers, the device is ideally suited
for use in advanced automotive dashboards.
The MB91F361 incorporates a wealth of general purpose peripheral blocks,
including sixteen channels of 10-bit A/D converter and two channels of 10-bit
D/A converter, four channels each of input capture and output compare, six
reload timers and eight external interrupts. Serial communications is
provided via three UARTs, two synchronous serial ports and an I2C bus
controller.
Power-down management facilities include a reset if supply voltage falls
below a pre-set threshold and over/under voltage detection interrupt.
