Visteon is previewing three multimedia technologies at the 1999 Society of Automotive Engineers International Congress and Exposition that offer drivers dynamic route assistance, rear seat entertainment for the kids, and convenient, premium CD sound. The technologies are just the latest examples of how Visteon is changing the automotive supplier industry by developing its services and systems with vehicle-savvy consumers in mind. Navigation radio Visteon's navigation radio system combines in-vehicle navigation with the functions of a premium audio system. The system provides consumers with the ability to use navigation, audio and cellular phone systems with the touch of a button. Navigation radio will feature Visteon's world-class turn-by-turn navigation system, NavMate(R). Route guidance is provided through a color display screen, voice directions and simple graphic icons. In addition, navigation radio offers consumers the convenience and superior audio performance of a Visteon AM/FM single slot CD radio. Navigation radio features: * An optional integral GSM or AMPS cellular phone. * An external cellular phone link. * An advanced travel assistance system * Roadside assistance, emergency assistance and concierge services. * A memo record. * Remote door lock capability. In-Dash 6CD Radio Visteon's new In-Dash 6CD Radio offers customers outstanding quality and maximum convenience without giving up their radio tuner. The premium 6 disc CD changer mechanism is contained in a 91-mm box mounted in the dash. CDs are selected using the radio preset buttons. The In-Dash 6 CD Radio offers: * Selective eject and load capabilities * Random/shuffle within single CD or across all CDs * User-friendly display shows continuous status of CDs * Premium sound quality * In-dash vs. trunk-mounted changer * Direct access to all CDs through presets with no disc magazine required * Reduced CD skipping with 3 second buffer Rear Seat Entertainment System At last, a vehicle entertainment system that will keep kids in the back seat busy on long trips. Visteon is introducing its Rear Seat Entertainment System to aftermarket consumers later this year. The system offers a fully- integrated, mobile entertainment system designed to blend completely with the automotive interior. The system features a 6.4 inch, rear-facing, flip-up LCD screen, a video cassette player and video plug-and-play capability, all integrated into a center console which looks like original equipment. Visteon's Rear Seat Entertainment System folds down completely to deter theft and allows kids to listen to the music and sound either through headphones or through the vehicle's audio system.
