Ford Motor Company President and CEO Jac Nasser Named Automotive Industries' Executive of the YearDETROIT, Feb. 26 -- Jac Nasser, Ford Motor Company's president and chief executive officer, has been chosen Automotive Industries' Executive of the Year for 1999. The award is given to automotive industry executives who have made a great impact on the auto industry. "Jac Nasser has had a dramatic imprint on Ford in every executive position he's held," says Marjorie Sorge, editor-in-chief of Automotive Industries. "His commitment to shareholder value, people and customer satisfaction has made Ford a successful global company and a leader in the industry today." AI's editors chose Nasser because he has turned Ford into a more nimble, more efficient automaker that has substantially increased its earnings and image. Last year it delivered a total return to investors of 89%, putting Ford in the top quartile of S&P 500 companies. He is also a long-term thinker dedicated to producing new, innovative vehicles and to creating new ways to build and sell them. Nasser joined Ford of Australia in 1968 as a junior trainee after graduating from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology with a degree in international business.
