NASCAR Fantasy Design Contest for KidsRevell-Monogram Offers Kids the Chance to Design Official Parade Car To Lead the Field at Charlotte and at Their School MORTON GROVE, Ill., Feb. 26 -- This racing season, Revell- Monogram is capturing NASCAR fever with the launch of the Revell ProFinish "Lead the Field" Design Contest. Kids 12 years and under will have the chance to experience the ultimate NASCAR fantasy by designing their own NASCAR parade car. The winning designer will receive a trip to see their design on an actual parade car, which will circle the track at the UAW-GM Quality 500 on October 10, 1999, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Renowned motorsports artist Sam Bass will personally work with the winner to finalize the design on the car. Later, the custom parade car will make a featured appearance with Sam Bass at the winner's school. The winning designer will be featured in a recognition ceremony, and will have the opportunity to share the NASCAR fantasy with friends and classmates, who will participate in a day of hands-on model building. Revell-Monogram will issue a one-of-a-kind 1:24 scale ProFinish model kit of the winning design as a trophy exclusively for the Grand Prize winner. "The Revell-Monogram ProFinish contest puts kids in the driver's seat so they can create the design for their ultimate fantasy NASCAR stock car," said David Scott, marketing director of Revell-Monogram. "Our company values hands-on creativity. We see the `Lead the Field' contest as a natural extension of the traditional model building experience we have provided kids for more than 50 years." Contestants enter the contest by submitting an original design for a NASCAR parade car, using their own color scheme and lay-out, on the pre- printed car outlined on the contest entry form. A panel of judges, including Sam Bass and representatives from Revell-Monogram, will select the winner based on creativity, originality and overall visual impact of the design. A total of 11 prizes will be awarded, including 10 honorable mention prizes and one grand prize, with a total retail value of approximately $16,500. Honorable mention prizes will include a Revell/Crayola prize package containing: limited edition print by Sam Bass, Revell apparel, Crayola products and a Revell ProFinish Model Kit.
