UNOVA Elects Three New Corporate Vice Presidents

    BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.--Feb. 26, 1999--James A. Herrman, Thomas O. Miller and Steven J. Winter have been elected Corporate Vice Presidents of UNOVA, Inc. by the industrial technologies company's Board of Directors, effective February 5, 1999.
    Herrman is President of UNOVA's Landis Gardner division, located in Waynesboro, Penn. Landis Gardner is part of UNOVA's Industrial Automation Systems business segment. Miller is Vice President and General Manager of Intermec Technologies Corporation's Norand Mobile Systems division, based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Winter is Vice President and General Manager of Intermec's Local Area Systems division, with headquarters in Everett, Wash. Intermec is a UNOVA subsidiary.

    Herrman Biographical Information

    Herrman began his career with the Company as a Senior Vice President at Gardner Machine in 1989 and has a 35-year background in the automotive industry. Established in 1897, Landis Gardner is a global leader in the design and manufacture of precision grinding systems, used primarily to finish metal parts for automotive and diesel powertrains.
    Prior to joining Gardner, Herrman spent 17 years in positions of increasing responsibility with Chrysler Motors. In addition to his automotive career, he also has several years of experience as a tool and die maker.
    While working at Chrysler, Herrman received a Bachelor's degree in manufacturing technology from Purdue University. He also has two associate degrees with majors in mathematics and mechanical engineering technology.

    Miller Biographical Information

    Miller is responsible for all operations of Intermec's Norand Mobile Systems division, including product design and development, system solutions, sales, marketing, product support, finance and all operational functions. This division has grown into one of the leading global suppliers of industrial hand-held computers and wide area networks. Products and technologies effectively link offsite employees in route distribution, field sales and service, utilities, transportation and other over-the-road industries with central enterprise information systems.
    Miller served as Norand Corporation's President from March 1997 to January 1998 and previously as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing and Sales from January 1996 until March 1997 when the company was acquired by Intermec. He joined Norand in 1982 and held various executive management positions, including Vice President of Direct Store Delivery and Vice President of Marketing and Customer Service, contributing significantly to the success and growth of these operations.
    He earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Business Administration from Western Illinois University.

    Winter Biographical Information

    Winter is responsible for all operations of Intermec's Local Area Systems division, including product design, development and manufacturing, product marketing and management, industrial design, sales order administration and finance.
    Products and technologies within the Local Area Systems division include wired and wireless Local Area Network (LAN) systems, portable hand-held, vehicle mounted and stationary terminals and computers, and network communications products.
    Since joining the Company in 1977, Winter has held numerous senior management positions, including Vice President of European Operations. Under his leadership as General Manager of Strategic and Government Programs, the Company was awarded the Automatic Identification Technology (AIT) U.S. Department of Defense contract in 1994.
    Winter holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from DeVry Institute of Technology.
    Currently, he is serving as Chairman of the Washington Committee for Employee Support of the Guard and Reserve under appointment by the Secretary of Defense.
