Jay Stephens Is Elected An Officer Of AlliedSignal
MORRIS TOWNSHIP, N.J.--Feb. 24, 1999-- AlliedSignal Inc. announced today that Jay B. Stephens, corporate Vice President, Health, Safety, Environment and Remediation, and Deputy General Counsel, Litigation and Regulatory Affairs, has been elected an officer of the company.Stephens joined AlliedSignal in 1997 as Vice President and General Counsel of the company's former Engineered Materials sector. Before joining AlliedSignal, he was with the Washington, D.C., office of the law firm of Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro, where he had been a partner since 1993. Stephens previously served for five years as the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia.
From 1986 to 1988, Stephens was Deputy Counsel to President Ronald Reagan. Prior to his White House service, he spent eight years in the Department of Justice, where he served initially as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and later as Associate Deputy Attorney General. He started his career in private practice, and subsequently served as an Assistant Special Prosecutor in the Watergate Special Prosecution Force and as Associate General Counsel of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation.
Stephens, who also is Chairman of AlliedSignal's Integrity and Compliance Council and a member of its Corporate Executive Council, is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Harvard College, where he earned a B.A. in government. He was awarded a fellowship for study at Oxford University and earned his law degree from Harvard Law School, graduating cum laude.
